CK’s post on Village Java: WELCOME BACK HGW!
Boy are The Bears confused by CK’s post on Mon Jun 25, 2007 5:22 pm! Does he want more members on the message board or not? AOL is the largest ISP in the US with over 20 million members. Banning them doesn’t make any sense to us. And while we agree that there is a lot of trouble with spammers in Russia (domain .ru) we have seen people from that country posting on other boards who like Ghost Whisperer.
What’s the cost of leaving someone signed up who has not posted yet? We ourselves signed up for another message board in November of 2005 and didn’t make our first post until February 2006. BTW, we made over 300 posts after that.
And what is this about no disagreements? We are in a discussion about our favorite show and it is almost certain that not all of us will see things the same way. The key thing is that disagreements should be about the the subject, not with each other. In other words, no personal attacks. And that is the rule we want to apply to this blog.
The Bears want to know what you think?

I kinda agree there. I've got four other email addys which all fall under the domains he mentioned. Up until a year ago, I had been with AOL for 10 years.... so I would have been knocked out just for having the AOL subscription. I understand that may be where most of the spammers come from as the accounts are easy to retrieve, but what if someone has an account like I did? I would have been screwed coming and going... and with no other recourse or addy to use.
More and more I'm beginning to wonder and realizing that Plan B probably needs to still be in the works regardless of the recent chain of events.

I was hoping that this whole sorry situation might be rescued somehow; so I actually "P M" ed CK, suggesting that he consider delegating the matters, he is concerned about.
I said that even "Gen. Patton" didnt "do it all" by himself, and that he, CK, will be only be getting more and more "worn" as he tries to be a gatekeeper, a sentry on the fortress wall, and site admin. all at the same time.
Now Im realizing even if the "rescue" happens, I will never feel the same again. Yep, that was my last post on HOGWF.
Posting on HOGWF is not going to be a very pleasant experience anymore; not if I (we) have to be under the baleful glare of CK.

Gladys and Brie,
Like you, I have been wishing somehow that HGW would revert to the "good old days" -- before we were constrained in our discussions. As things got more and more restrictive to the point that we couldn't discuss what current episodes might foreshadow about the finale, all the starch went out of me. I still enjoy the chat, where we are not so stifled, but I want a forum where we can freely discuss the show. CK's recent post was literally the nail in the coffin for HGW as far as I am concerned: If we are not allowed to disagree, there can not really be a lively back-and-forth discussion. I'm hoping that the Bears will find a way to build a forum into the Melindaverse. I have looked at the network's discussion and posted a couple of times, but it is confusing to me and the level of discussion seems to be fairly superficial.
Since it looks like we can't go back to those halcyon days at HGW, I'd like to look forward at what we might do together to build a fun and interesting forum.
