The Cradle Will Rock #216 (repeat) (17 August 2007)
This week’s episode – “The Cradle Will Rock” #216 – puts Melinda and Delia in the middle of a jewelry store robbery. But this is Ghost Whisperer, after all, and soon Mel finds herself taken hostage along with a reluctant spirit. Check out the summary here.
“The Cradle Will Rock” presents us with a number of twists on the usual Ghost Whisperer formula. It starts with a twist where Delia put Melinda in jeopardy by going with her to the jewelry store. In addition to the robbery in the opening scene we learn that Delia is conflicted about wearing Charlie’s ring. In the end she decides not to and thus winds up having her ring stolen.
Randy turns out to be the second spirit Melinda is not able to cross over this season. The first was Jared in “The Curse of the Ninth.” Both of these spirits will come to give her trouble in the season finale. Note that Melinda is not surprised when Randy says he has been offered a better deal. But we guess that Mel thinks Randy is talking about Romano. But we learn later in the season that it was probably Gabriel that offered the deal.
Our impression of Randy was that he was always working the angles. First in life when he tried to stage the false robbery and then in death when he tried to con Melinda into helping him allow his wife to get away with the money from the robbery. We wonder if he will not turn up again to get his just deserts.
